Sandy Toes

Sandy Toes merges the Good and Lovely series with Lovely’s repertoire of “fair women on beachscapes.” All playing out in the artist’s favorite approach to composition (allowing the viewer to become voyeur) we catch the model here drying her feet in the late afternoon after posing for Lovely’s painting, Good and Lovely Waves. Here we find her coming off the beach with the sun low in the sky, having a moment among the sea oats and trailing vines. Complete with signatures like Nantucket basket handbag and the crimson ribbon of the artist’s actual signature in the lower right, this piece was created from a model who was posing for pieces in the Good and Lovely show (note the incorporation here of that collection’s use of pinks, whites, and blacks).
