Good and Lovely Waves
This piece has been called “a pleasurable experience of oneself reflected in nature,” both figuratively and literally as we see the subject duplicated in the glassy surf. The artist’s intention was to create a piece in line with her Good and Lovely collection, centered around elements of attraction and a palette of pink, black, and white in line with the original candy brand. Lovely not only incorporates this obviously in the black bows, white dress, and pink parasol, but with the same vivid hues woven into the colorful highlights in the waves, the white fabric, and prismatically angling from horizon into sky. Delivered here in Lovely’s characteristic voyeuristic composition, this painting is the prelude to Good and Lovely Sandy Toes.
