Good and Lovely Marilyn
Good and Lovely Marilyn was born of the artist’s interest in helping viewers explore what the attraction of a painting is, why we remember what we remember, what has lasting influence, and how to decide what you should be collecting. Her 2001 art show “Good and Lovely” featured “items of attraction all painted in black and white with a medium hue of pink.” Unlike “Good and Lovely Camelot,” this portrait is not of Marilyn Monroe in actuality, but a self-portrait of the artist sitting as Monroe, embodying the concept by portraying one of the most iconic images of attraction in American Culture.
