Compared to secondary study “Nantucket Basket Parade” done in paint marker, this iteration of the same or similar setting is completed in chunky blunt strokes, and compounds the floral details with foreground bouquet and background kitchen wallpaper textile, a steely neutral base with bright candied blooms. Among what the artist festively refers to as “a parade of favorite things,” you find a duo of Manhattan brands with the Tiffany blue box and MacKenzie-Childs knickknacks, all encircling a Nantucket basket and propped on a cake plate, a visual play on words for the “sweet setting” of the overall piece.
